Prior to working within a law firm, Bill was in the Royal Air Force for a number of years, after which he joined the Guernsey Police where he served for 10 years.  He subsequently looked for a career change, joined a law firm and trained as a paralegal.

In 2007/8 Bill obtained a BSc (Hons) in Crime and Criminology from the Institute of Criminal Justice Studies of the University of Portsmouth.  He is a member of the British Society of Criminology.

Bill also lectures on Criminology and the Criminal Justice System at the Guernsey College of Further Education
