Mark obtained a degree in Economics and Politics before gaining an MA in Law and an M Phil in International Relations at Cambridge University. 

In 1987 he qualified as a barrister, and as a Guernsey advocate in 1988.  He is a member of Middle Temple.

Mark is a notary public and also a committee member of STEP and a member of ACTAPS.  He has been appointed to the Royal Court Civil Procedure Review Committee.

Mark holds several directorships comprising companies in financial services, insurance and the media and has spoken widely on trusts and commercial law. 

Mark has been highly recommended by Which Lawyer? for dispute resolution and for his restructuring and insolvency expertise.  He has also been highly commended in Legal 500 as “an outstanding advocate who always goes the extra mile to deliver”.  In Chambers UK he has been described as "one of the most experienced litigators in Guernsey”.  In Chambers Europe 2010 he has been commended for property matters as "well known and well connected ... he's my man in Guernsey", and."... quick to grasp relevant issues".  Mark is also recognised in Chambers Europe 2010 for both dispute resolution and his sub-specialism in marine employment issues.

Mark was the author of the Guernsey Chapter of ‘Anti-Money Laundering: International Law and Practice’ which is endorsed by the International Compliance Association and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
